Aus der BA
Die korrekte Füllmenge für das Klimaanlagenkältemittel ist dem Kältemittelaufkleber unter der Motorhaube
zu entnehmen. Weitere Informationen erhalten Sie von

Subject: Poor A/C Performance in Elevated Ambient Conditions - keyword charge cool HVAC leak temperature #PIC3598 - (07/01/2005)

Models: 2004-2005 Cadillac XLR

2005-2006 Chevrolet Corvette

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Customers may bring in their vehicle with complaints of the air conditioning suddenly blowing hot and moist air on occasion. They may also say that the blower speed is going up and down at the same time. This can happen whether the system is in automatic or manual modes. It is likely that the vehicle will pass the standard service manual A/C diagnosis, and the dealership unfortunately has to tell the customer that there is no trouble found.

The system is experiencing a high head pressure situation. The engine control module will disengage the compressor clutch at pressures above 300 kPa (435 psi) for safety. Any time the compressor is off, the HVAC control head will return the system to outside air from recirculation mode to reduce interior cabin noise, unless the customer has manually selected recirculation mode. The sound level difference is often mistaken for a change in blower speed.

This condition is most likely seen on a hot engine re-start such as after a gas station stop, prolonged low speed driving, or vehicle idling at an elevated ambient condition. The initial spike in head pressure may be enough to disengage the compressor clutch. If the vehicle has any forward motion, the system will recover within seconds. If the vehicle is stationary or in a significant tail wind, the system can take minutes to recover after a disengagement.

Recommendation/Instructions:
After verifying that the vehicle's refrigerant pressure sensor is working properly, the solution is to reduce the refrigerant charge level from 0.64 kg (1.4 lbs.) to a new charge of 0.50 kg (1.10 lbs). Bowling Green Assembly Plant has begun to charge all of its vehicles to 0.50 kg (1.10 lbs). Recent vehicle testing has confirmed the effectiveness of this solution. The air conditioning cooling capacity is not affected. New charge labels will be available at a later date.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
