US spec Z06 frage - dayABR11 - 23.02.2010

Hallo,

A 2008 Corvette US-Z06 would cost in Germany also ~55000€ with low mileage if all import taxes are paid already.

Hi,

changing the car to a european version makes in my opinion no sense,
cause it still lacks the 3 years european warranty.

Best regards Edgar

Ok, I guess it was probably better to just do this in English in the first place. Well by the time I would want to sell it, the warranty would have less than a year. I will have to speak with customs to see if I have to pay any taxes, but as of yet I have not had to pay anything since I brought it over with the US army. Main thing for me - is the conversion expensive? I think if I tried selling it to another American here, I would have to sell it for 52,000 us dollars (38,000 euro). If I can realistically get 55,000 euro ( about 72,000 dollars). If conversion and taxes come out to less than 10,000 euro, then I think selling it would make good sense.

Or if that would not be realistic, maybe I'll just buy more parts for my Z06. Already have Brembos and PFADT coilovers. Anyone know about cheap ways to ship larger parts from the States (CF hoods and the APR wing in particular)

Sorry, lots of questions.

The thing is that You won't get 55000 Euros.

Not You, but the importer / buyer here has to pay taxes, customs and costs for the conversion. And these costs plus the car price should be way below the 55000, otherwise the stress of importing makes no sense if You can get a "ready" European Version for the same price.

So, if You deduct these costs from roundabout 50000 Euros, You should get the price that You can calculate with - and I think that will be not much more than the 38000 Euros / 52000 US $ You get in the States.

Regards, Oliver

calculation is that easy:

Therefore you are with the army and have brought the car with you to Germany, you don´t have to pay taxes.

BUT: If you are selling the car to a german or european individual or company, you will be taxed and dutied.

Formula is like:

((Price of the car + transportation cost) x 10%)x 19%

Then the car will be legally imported to the european union.
(It´s not street legal by then, you need to make conversions to the lighting!)

So, if you sell the car to someone at 52 grand, this will come out (as of oanda today) to 38.210 €

Plus 10% import duty will be 3.821 €

Plus 19% VAT will be 7.986 €

payment total for your customer is 50.016 € without conversion, which will roughly be around 1.000 € (estimate!)

The problem of your calculation is the duty/ tax thing - this amount will have to be paid, but NOT in YOUR pocket, but moreover the dough will go to Berlin to fund funny governmental brainfarts........ Teufel

Keep it, the area you are located at is fun driving territory!
