Insurance for driving my C2 in Europe

Hi, I have found out that my insurance company does not cover me in Europe for driving my car .

I have European companies that cover any Europeans I may crash into (they into me) but will not cover my car for damages or theft.

Please direct me to a European Company to cover my needs for the 2 months that I will be in Euope.

Thanks

Hi Jackfit,
firstly, I am not an expert on car insurance. The problem you may have with the insurance of your car is probably that it is a historic car and very valuable. To get full coverage you need an expertise what the car is worth, i.e. what the market value is. To my knowledge there are two insurances specialised
on historic cars http://www.occ.eu and http://www.zurich.ch (the homepage is also in English which is certainly of help). But I am sure there is a forum member who is more familiar solving your problem.
Regarding your stay in Nuremberg you have already been contacted by George, Nuremberg is also my hometown - needless to say that you are also welcome from my side (I wrote you already an e-mail via the US forum). Besides the castle, the Bratwurst and ginger bread Nuremberg has also a centre for histiric cars - http://www.ofenwerk.de with mainly European vintage cars. No STING RAYS!!! I also have the idea that the local newspaper might be interested in your story. If you want we can perhaps organise an interview.
A proposal for your trip: I know you do not only want to take German Autobahns. Between Würzburg an Nuremberg, there is a region along the Main river where they grow the Franconian wine. This is a nice area with beautiful little towns like Volkach and Dettelbach.
Last but not least. In case you have a fridge in your car take a Main lobster with you - Europeans like them.

P.S. The Google translation of your post is funny - but only this one. All the others are absolutely OK!

...as long as they do not ask you to drink it.... Teufel

They also brew a very good beer in the area ("Buttenheimer") and for Jack it might be interesting that Strauss (not Franz Josef but Levi) was born in Buttenheim!

Levi made great jeans, wore these during restoration and beer drinking..... Trinken

Hi Jackfit
Another reason to travel the area! By the way I called OCC in the meantime (because of the insurance of my C2). They told me the following: German insurances only insure cars with a German license plate, i.e. of people living in Germany. They suppose that insurances in the other Eurpean countries handle it the same way! So the only solution for you would be to get coverage in the US. In other words, I am afraid you have to contact the insurance company where your car is insured at the moment.
Have you written a corresponding post on the US corvette forum? I see US cars with US license plates quite often here and I am sure they are insured against theft and all this. In case your insurance is unwilling, contact some of the competitors. American business is always after the money - so you should have a chance.
Good luck

They even have a Levi Strauss museum. The "Denim" house shows where he was born (Geburtshaus").

Hello,

I have solved the insurance problem. A Dutch company will handle all my needs. It just took a few days to find the right insurance agency.

So, keep the beds warm, the beer cold.....I am on my way ! Sirene Trinken

: sirene :: drink:
